Welcome

I have been working as both an artist and an illustrator for more than 15 years. As much as I enjoy working independently in the studio I like the challenge of working on new illustration commissions and with new people.

In 2012 I moved with my family from Berlin to the countryside of Uckermark (Brandenburg) north of Berlin. Since then we have lived and worked between the forest, the lake and the dark skies on the site of a former children's holiday camp.

I feel incredibly lucky to live close to nature but with a big city nearby. Nature is the inspiration for much of my art work, as I try to capture my interactions with the natural world and the sensations and emotions that arise. I hope that my work will recreate these for you.

This summer, I showcase my woodcuts and drawings at my fifth solo exhibition, in the Christel Wagner Galerie (Frankfurt/Main).

I try to live life with my eyes wide open, willing to discover and learn new things every day. I like to think that this attitude comes across in my daily drawing projects, which present special moments from my daily life for others to enjoy.

I love sharing what I have learnt, which is why I offer creative workshops in my studio. These run from spring to autumn and are open to all. Please do contact me for more information.

Education

After studying literature in Mainz and Edinburgh, I studied English and Fine Arts at the Humboldt University and the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin.

In 2000 I was accepted into the German Academic Scholarship Foundation for my achievements in the field of Art.

In 2005, I was appointed master class student of Professor Dieter Hacker at the UdK Berlin.

Stefanie Heitmann, Die Rheinpfalz.

About my woodcuts
